The study of medicine, commonly referred to as MBBS, has grown tremendously among Indian students. With limited government seats and high fees at private colleges, many students now prefer MBBS abroad for better opportunities.
Studying abroad provides access to state-of-the-art universities, world-class faculty, and international exposure. Students also gain the chance to practice medicine globally while experiencing holistic education.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), as of December 2023, there are 706 MBBS colleges in India offering a total of 108,915 MBBS seats. This is only a fraction of the students appearing for NEET-UG every year, prompting many to seek admissions abroad.
General eligibility guidelines for Indian students aspiring to study MBBS abroad:
Minimum age: 17 years (by December 31 of admission year). No upper age limit for most universities.
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) minimum 50% marks (40% for reserved categories). English compulsory. NEET UG mandatory. Eligibility certificate required.
Applicants must submit a medical certificate stating they are free from contagious diseases.
